This section includes information on organizations that can assist you in finding a job and how to get your working papers if you are under 18.

For help getting a job and starting your career:

• Job Corps provides free career training, education and paid internships for 16- through 24-year-olds at no cost to students. Sign up for an info session here or call 800-733-JOBS.

• Career Services offered by the State of NJ Department of Labor including job openings, online sources, career support and apprenticeship opportunities

• PACES (Pathways to Academic and Career Exploration to Success) supports youth in foster care, ages 16-21, with educational and employment coaching. Scroll down on their web-page to provide your contact info and select “Employment Services”

• STR8UP Employment NJ - provides career coaching, resume building and employment search strategies

• YES M.I.S.S Inc - provides college and career connections to underserved middle and high school girls in Northern Jersey

• Newark Youth One Stop Career Center (NYOSCC)

• The NJYRS has a section on Employment section that covers career exploration, resumes and cover letters, finding a job, the interview process, and trade careers.

Minimum wage in New Jersey is $15.92/hour ($6.05/hour for tipped workers and $18.92/hour for long-term care facility workers.) If you have a wage complaint you can file it with the NJ Department of Labor here.
